What happens when following Jesus puts you out of step with the culture around you?
Daniel and his friends knew that tension.
The kingdom of Babylon looked unstoppable, with armies, wealth, and kings who could kill with a single word. Its culture embraced different virtues and values and worshiped false gods. Babylon didn’t just want them to live there. Babylon wanted to reshape them.
That pressure feels increasingly familiar in Canada. Every day, we feel pressure to conform to a culture that rejects what God calls good, celebrates sin, and questions the Christian worldview.
But though the nations rage, God still reigns over kings, empires, and every power that sets itself against the Ancient of Days.
How do we live in this world with uncompromising faithfulness to God? How do we engage it with grace and truth? How do we endure when faithfulness costs us something?
Our confidence is not in our courage, discipline, or strength. It’s in the God who rules over every kingdom, who is able to deliver, who keeps his promises, and who will never leave his people, not even in exile.
Babylon is not sovereign. God is.

Faithfulness That Honours God and Blesses the Nation
Ewan Goligher, George Sinclair, Jim Tremble, Janet Jacks, Dwayne Cline
Canada is no longer a place where Christian faith is assumed. So how do we stay faithful in classrooms, offices, hospitals, and boardrooms that don't share our convictions? How do we love our neighbours and seek the welfare of our cities without compromising our faith? In this panel, pastors and Christians serving in a range of vocations will share what it looks like to honour God and bless the nation right where he has placed us.
Honouring God in Dating and Marriage
Joshua Tong, John Mahaffey, Jamie & Vanessa Strickland
Few areas of life feel the pressure of our culture more than our relationships. In Canada, hookup culture and living together before marriage are treated as normal. Marriage is delayed, redefined, or dismissed altogether. At the same time, many young adults feel lonelier than ever, longing for connection but unsure where to find it. How do we pursue relationships that honour God without compromise? What does purity look like in a digital age? And how does marriage display the beauty of the gospel and Christ's love for his church? In this panel, speakers will offer biblical wisdom for singles, dating couples, and those preparing for marriage.
How to Structure Your Life for Spiritual Growth
Jon Cleland
In this workshop, participants will learn how to structure their lives around a rule of life that incorporates spiritual disciplines for the sake of spiritual formation. Do you feel stuck in your spiritual growth? Too busy to find time for devotions? This workshop will give you the tools to think about how to manage your time and personal discipline for the sake of a fruitful and fulfilling life in service of Christ and his kingdom.
How to Love When Life Gets Hard
Joshua Tong
Love is meant to be the central, distinguishing mark of the Christian life, and yet every Christian knows that it is incredibly hard to love people the way that Jesus commands us to love. How do you love difficult people in your life? How do you love those who hurt you? And how do you love when your own life already feels so overwhelming? In this workshop, we will consider what Romans 12:12 teaches us about how hope sustains us in our pursuit of love in the midst of a difficult world.
Keep Your Heart: Failure, Faithfulness, and the Daily Fight Against Sin
John Mahaffey, George Sinclair, Wendy Stringer, Deanna Spoelstra
Many of us have watched pastors, ministry leaders, and Christian friends we respected fall. Some of us have been hurt by it. It is tempting to think of these failures as sudden, but public failure rarely begins in public. It starts with small compromises, hidden sin, and habits formed long before anyone is watching. That is why Scripture urges us, "Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life" (Proverbs 4:23 ESV). The habits you build now in your twenties will shape the person you become. In this panel, we will speak honestly about moral failure in the church and the ordinary struggles that come before it. Whether you lead a ministry, serve in your local church, or simply want to follow Jesus faithfully, you will leave with practical wisdom for guarding your heart today.
Preparing for a Lifetime of Faithful Ministry
Paul Vanden Brink, Ezra Okoti, Dwayne Cline, Kyle Hackman
"Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers." (1 Timothy 4:16 ESV) Paul wrote these words to a young pastor facing false teachers, opposition from the world, the schemes of the devil, and the temptations of the flesh. The challenges of pastoral ministry have not changed. Neither has the call. Faithfulness is still a mark of a man God uses. In this breakout, four Canadian pastors with a passion for raising up young men for vocational ministry will share what faithfulness looks like right now. Whether you are discerning a call or already serving, you will gain a biblical picture of how God calls and prepares the men he sends, for the good of his people and for his glory.
Gifted for His Church: A Conversation for Young Women
Deanna Spoelstra, Wendy Stringer, Stephanie Krish, Kim McGibbon
As a young woman, questions about calling can feel exciting, confusing, or even intimidating. You may want to serve Christ and his church but wonder how to understand your gifts or what steps to take next. In this panel, hear from women who have navigated their own journeys of ministry. We'll explore how God shapes the gifts and character of women, and how mentors can help you grow and serve the church. Whether you already sense a call to ministry or are just beginning to wonder, come learn from women who have walked the road before you.
Embracing a Christian Sexual Ethic in the Modern World
Laura Tucker
In the modern Western world, an orthodox Christian sexual ethic seems strange to those who are not Christians and there is often pressure to go against an orthodox Christian sexual ethic. How as young adults can we follow a biblical sexual ethic, even as we live in a secular culture? How should we interact with the world around us that does not hold to this ethic? In this session, we will focus on what Scripture has to say regarding sexual purity and lust and how we can apply this to our own lives. We will then focus on how we should interact with a predominant culture that does not follow this ethic.
