A Year in Review (2017-2018)

We launched TGC Canada’s website in June of 2017. So we are now celebrating the one year anniversary of the website’s launch. Throughout the last year, we provided articles and audio that we hope genuinely benefited you as our readers. Here are a few highlights from the past year, our future plans, and a number of ways that you can help us in our mission of Gospel renewal.

Overview of the Year

We received over 540,000 unique pageviews between June 13, 2017 and June 13, 2018. And it looks most of our readers are reading articles because the average view time of an article is about three and half minutes. Our most popular articles include such topics as marriage, Canadian history, and Canadian social concerns.

The most popular article concerns four crises every marriage must make it through. Another popular article involves a Christian reflection on Ontario Bill 89. What encourages me is that, in the article, Steve West neither asks Christians to despair nor to put their trust into political activism. Instead, he writes, “Our faith is in our covenant Lord, not in democracy, fairness, commonsense, or human wisdom. The ultimate outcome is not in doubt. No power in the universe can snatch the Father’s adopted children from his hand, and our eternal home is the place where righteousness dwells.” I suppose that we could repeat this conclusion for any of the legal or social challenges that Canadians face.

One of my favourite articles sketched out the history of the United Church in Canada. It provided insight into Canada’s largest Protestant church. Also, a number of articles that focus on the Bible or theology filled out the roster of our most popular articles. For example, Paul Carter’s article on the difficult passage in the Psalter that speaks of dashing little ones against a rock was one of our most popular articles.

Plans for the Coming Year

Our team of editors, copy-editors, and columnists have worked hard to produce and write content that edifies readers. And we want to continue to serve Canadians in the coming years. We hope to continue to be a trusted resource for Canadians who are looking for Gospel-centered content.

In the coming year, we plan to release more audio content to edify our readers and listeners. On top of our Into the Word podcast, we plan to release audio content that will interest families, church leaders, and other listeners. Keep an eye out this Summer for more audio content.

How to Help

As a Gospel coalition, we invite all Canadians to join with us to renew the contemporary church in the ancient Gospel. Without your participation, we cannot have success. So please consider joining us and supporting us by:

  • Reading and sharing articles and podcasts. We are still a young coalition, and we need your help to connect people with our material. Consider sharing the next article that you enjoy reading on our site so that we can reach new audiences in Canada and elsewhere.
  • Attending our first National Conference this Fall (Oct 29-31). Registration is open, and we have started at the centre. The theme for the conference is simply “The Gospel of Jesus Christ.” Click here to learn more and to register.
  • Writing for TGC Canada. If you feel talented in writing and would like to benefit other Canadians with Gospel-centered content, write me at CanadaTGC [at] gmail [dot] com. I would love to talk to you about contributing to our site.
  • Donating to TGC Canada. We have yet to meet our budget needs for this year. Consider giving $10, $20, or $30 a month to TGC Canada to help us accomplish our mission. And if you lead a church, consider adding us to your mission line. To give, click here. We are so thankful for all those who have supported us and we hope for your continued support in the coming years.

We are excited to see what God is doing and will continue to do in Canada. Please join us in our mission to renew the Canadian church in the ancient Gospel. We look forward to seeing you online or at our National Conference in the Fall!
