Every week we want to bring to your attention expository, Gospel-centred sermons from pastors across Canada. We hope that you become familiar with some of the faithful ministers of the word in our nation. We also hope that you will be edified on your daily commute or whenever you listen to these messages. We lastly hope that you learn about the churches where these pastors minister, so that you can easily find Gospel-centered, expository churches in your region.

Gavin Peacock on Psalm 23 (Calgary)

Martin Luther called Psalm 23 “a miniature Bible” and so it is. This familiar text is unfathomable in its meaning and relevance to any Christian, in any place and at any time. So if you can say, “The Lord is MY shepherd”, you really do lack nothing.

Rob Godard on “Lessons On The Journey: Revival From The Wreckage” from Psalm 16 (Surrey)

Returning to a previous series, “Lessons From the Old Testament”, Pastor Rob focuses on Psalm 16 with a focus on verse 8: “I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.” This defines a relationship with Jesus that drives and defines us! There will be times, perhaps for you today they are right now overwhelming you, where we need the take refuge!

  • In sadness, treasure God and realize that He is the one that we find satisfaction in, and apart from Him there is no good thing!
  • In fear take courage, God is with you!  Set Him before you!
  • In temptation, experience conviction, God is with you!  Flee from sin, put to death the deeds of the flesh.
  • In insecurity, find confidence, God is with you, and His strength will help you to do all that He commands.

Jeff Eastwood on 2 Samuel 10 (Charlottetown)

Theology may conjure up thoughts of being boring, divisive or representing endless Facebook arguments that are mostly heat with very little light. The reality is that we all trust in theology and we are all theologians. The issue is not theology, it is whether our theology is true according to God’s Word or not. Follow along as Pastor Jeff preaches “Worship and Theology” from 2 Samuel 10, and shows how the fear, grace, and faithfulness of God ought to bring stability, hope, and healing to our souls, as well as be a guide for our daily lives.

Paul Martin on Exodus 31 (Toronto)

It is a mistake to think that the Holy Spirit never did anything until Pentecost. It is equally a mistake to think that all He does is empower preachers and leaders. Bezalel was an artist and God asserts that all of his skill and ability to build the Tabernacle come from the Holy Spirit. How does this relate to us? Does the Spirit empower Bezalel’s today, to do things like stack chairs and make sermon graphics? And if that is the case, what exactly happens when we do not rely on Him?

Here is the sermon.
