Every week we want to bring to your attention expository, Gospel-centred sermons from pastors across Canada. We hope that you become familiar with some of the faithful ministers of the word in our nation. We also hope that you will be edified on your daily commute or whenever you listen to these messages. We lastly hope that you learn about the churches where these pastors minister, so that you can easily find Gospel-centered, expository churches in your region.

Paul Martin on Ephesians 1:13-14: “Gospel Power – Gospel Living: Truths from Ephesians” (Toronto)

If God the Father elected and predestinated us, and the Son did all that we needed for salvation on His cross, but we are dead in our sins, then how does anyone actually get saved? We are not spiritually capable of responding to the work the Father and Son have done. Enter the Holy Spirit.

If the Father is the Architect of our salvation, and the Son is the Accomplisher of our salvation, it is fair to say that the third member of the Trinity, God the Holy Spirit, is the Applier of that salvation. He regenerates us, that is, He brings us to life and in so doing enables us to respond to the Gospel. Then He stays with us until the day we take possession of the inheritance that is ours.

Here is the sermon.

Rob Snyder on Mark 10:46-52 (Calgary)

Have you been in such a desperate situation that you are willing to do whatever it takes to get the help that you needed? Here are the sermon’s main points:

  1. Desperate Cries for Mercy
  2. The Startling Mercy of the Son of David
  3. On the Way to Jerusalem

Here is the sermon.

Jack Eggar on Parents & Kids Ministries in the Church (Surrey)

Jack Eggar is the past president and CEO of AWANA and speaks candidly about the role and character qualities for parents.

The prerequisite to Biblical parenting is practicing the presence of Jesus and the discipleship of your children is more than just dropping them off at church once a week.  Parents who disciple their children:

  1. Commit to the social family unit
  2. Spend quality time as a family
  3. Have good communication skills
  4. Express consistent appreciation
  5. Apply problem solving skills
  6. Have a united commitment to a wholesome spiritual life in the family

Here is the message.

George Sinclair on John 2:23-3:21 (Ottawa)

In John 3, Jesus meets someone who speaks and thinks like a respectable Canadian. How does Jesus respond to respectable Canadian thinking? As Christians, how do we handle the difference between what Jesus says and what we want to say and think to fit in with our culture? Let’s look at John 2:23–3:21.

Brad Morrice on Jonah 3:10-4:11 (Montreal)

//

In this passage, we see how God corrects the false beliefs of Jonah. God encourages discussion with Jonah, letting him express himself, while reminding him in his grace that he does not have the “big picture” and it brings him into a wrong way. Here are the three arguments that Jonah has with God: 1- the equity of God 2- The priorities of God 3- The goodness of God

Here is the sermon.

Jeff Eastwood on 1 Samuel 14 (Charlottetown)

1 Samuel 14 is jam packed; 15 sermons or more could be preached from this rich text. The continued contrast between Saul and his son Jonathan grows ever more stark, highlighting the wisdom of the latter and the foolishness of the former. Foolishness is not a lack of intelligence but a lack of dependence on God. Wisdom, then, embraces worship and the prerequisites thereof, is not selfish, readily repents, sees beyond the surface, is attractive, and ultimately points to wisdom incarnate, who is Jesus. Follow along as Pastor Jeff preaches ‘Worship & Wisdom’ from 1 Samuel 14.
