Every week we want to bring to your attention expository, Gospel-centred sermons from pastors across Canada. We hope that you become familiar with some of the faithful ministers of the word in our nation. We also hope that you will be edified on your daily commute or whenever you listen to these messages. We lastly hope that you learn about the churches where these pastors minister, so that you can easily find Gospel-centered, expository churches in your region.

George Sinclair on John 9:1-49 (Ottawa)

Rather than ducking deep, pointed and hard questions, the Gospels show that Jesus walked towards questions like these. The role of fear in knowing truth? Scepticism about miracles? Refusal to follow where the evidence goes? The problem of group thinking? Does God cause suffering? Does the Gospel have anything to say to suffering? Let’s look at John 9 and see how the Gospel addresses these and even more questions.

Here’s the link to George’s sermon.

Tim Challies on Ephesians 5:25-33 (Toronto)

Tim Challies preached from Ephesians 5:25-33 as part of our series in Ephesians. “Husbands, love your wives as Christ loved the church.” The husband who imitates Christ in his leadership will be sacrificial, sanctifying, purifying, gospel-soaked, and purposeful.
Here is the sermon.

Clint Humfrey on Philippians 2:14-18 (Calgary)

The challenge for mature Christian believers is that they can tend to rely on their developed theological knowledge, but fail to apply it consistently. They can easily grumble when things don’t fit their convenience or dispute over things that don’t matter. Paul reminds the Philippians that holding fast to the word of life is the key to having counter-cultural unity and joy.

Here are the sermon’s main points – The Word of Life for the Joy of the Church:

  1. The Word of Life and the Shinning Church

  2. The Word of Life and the Faithful Church

  3. The Word of Life and the Joyful Church

Rob Godard on Judges 2:6-15: “The Danger of Compromise: One Generation away from Extinction” (Surrey)

We talked last week about the cycle that is found in the book of Judges, and it is a cycle that we must fight to not see repeated in our lives and the lives of our children!  As long as the people of Israel knew God, and the great things He had done, they served Him faithfully.  When they lost that memory, they lost their devotion.

How do we make sure our kids do not follow the pattern of Judges, that they know and love God and delight in Him in all that they do?

How do we as a church that has a passion for Multi-Generational ministry, make sure that we are protecting the next generations passion for the glory of God.

If we don’t model and teach the next generation about who God is and what He has done, then they will not know God, and they will end up doing evil in the eyes of the LORD and serving the world, not God.

We are one generation away from godlessness if we do not model and teach to the next generation who God is.

This is particularly important today as we look at our world and culture!  So many people say that they believe in God, but they don’t know Him, or what He has done.  So many people want to believe in a god made in their own image, rather than the God of Scripture.

May we be a place that constantly has in our core values one generation declaring the works of God to the next!

May our children, and their children know the God of the Bible and live for His glory, and pass it on to the next generation!
