Every week we want to bring to your attention expository, Gospel-centred sermons from pastors across Canada. We hope that you become familiar with some of the faithful ministers of the word in our nation. We also hope that you will be edified on your daily commute or whenever you listen to these messages. We lastly hope that you learn about the churches where these pastors minister, so that you can easily find Gospel-centered, expository churches in your region.

George Sinclair on Esther 1 (Ottawa)

Why should Christians read a story that includes (implicit) divination, astrology, and drunkenness? How can we read a story in post-modern Canada that seems to exalt wives being subservient to husbands? How can a story that seems to exalt the power of a Persian King and does not even mention the Lord help us to appreciate the beauty and the power of the Gospel? Let’s dive into Esther 1.

Paul Carter on “A Spiritual House” from 1 Peter 2:4-10 (Orillia)

In the Old Testament God promised that one day he would conduct a total rebuilt of his house, his people and his priesthood. In this fifth sermon in the “Faith Under Fire” series Pastor Paul Carter talks about how Jesus Christ is the beginning of a whole new work of God. He talks about how we change and how we are recommissioned as we come to God through faith in Christ. Coming to Jesus – the precious cornerstone – changes who we are and it changes what we do. Thanks be to God! Find the whole message here.

Jeff Eastwood on Romans 13:8-14 (Charlottetown)

Being selfish starts at birth and is something we will wrestle with for the rest of our lives. This is true of how we use all of God’s gifts, but certainly the most egregious manifestation is when we hoard His amazing grace of salvation. Follow along as Pastor Jeff finishes the three part mini-series on service with a sermon entitled ‘Serve: Engage’ from Romans 13:8-14.

Clint Humfrey on Philippians 4:6-7 (Calgary)

If you are stressed or anxious, are you doomed to suffer silently? In Paul’s letter to the Philippians, we learn that there is peace offered to the troubled heart and mind. It is the peace of God that protects us from anxiety that surrounds us.

Aaron Rock on “Instruct One Another” from Romans 15:14-20, Colossians 3:16, Galatians 6:1-6 (Windsor)

God desires for us to be ambitious to instruct one another and has equipped us for the task; however, the call to instruct one another is often misunderstood or applied poorly in Christian circles. This message highlights how to instruct one another through teaching, through worship and through rebuke – all for God’s glory.

Rod Godard on “The Roads To Destruction” from Romans 1:18-32 (Surrey)

To understand the Gospel one must understand that it is the good news of salvation. Key to this understanding and depth of experience is understanding and experiencing what we are saved from. Romans 1:18-32 is one of the key passages in the Bible in helping us to grow in our grasp of what it means to be under God’s wrath, and in pointing us to the reality of finding our exclusive hope in Jesus and the cross.

This passage is one that focuses on Gentiles or those who do not have Biblical knowledge of God, and yet it shows clearly why all humans are without excuse and helps us to see the pathway to destruction so that we can avoid it!

This passage also shows us that what displeases God is when He is not acknowledged as God, honored, or thanked. Therefore authentic believers who experience God’s amazing grace and the salvation that comes from the wrath of God will acknowledge Him as God, glorify Him in all they say and do, and spend their time thanking Him.

Steve Kim on “Play Your Part in the Work of the Lord” from Exodus 35:1 – 36:7 (Toronto)

God doesn’t need us for anything but in his sovereign wisdom and love, he chooses to use his people to build the church of Jesus Christ and bring glory to his name. We play our part in the work of the kingdom by giving and serving with a willing heart. How has the Lord gifted you for ministry? Are you using your resources and skills to participate in the work of the Lord?
