Every week we want to bring to your attention expository, Gospel-centred sermons from pastors across Canada. We hope that you become familiar with some of the faithful ministers of the word in our nation. We also hope that you will be edified on your daily commute or whenever you listen to these messages. We lastly hope that you learn about the churches where these pastors minister, so that you can easily find Gospel-centered, expository churches in your region.

Clint Humfrey on Philippians 3:17-21 (Calgary)

Who are you imitating? If you follow Christ, you’ll imitate him and the godly people around you.

Jeff Eastwood on Philippians 2:1-11 (Charlottetown)

As followers of Jesus, our perspective is one of the many areas where He is changing us. Where we view things through the lens of our own self-interest, He is transforming us to see things through the lens of Himself. In Philippians 2, Paul calls the church to complete his joy by having unity, humility, and an others-oriented perspective. In other words, Paul desires the church to have the mind of a servant, the mind of Christ. Follow along as Pastor Jeff speaks on ‘Serve: Priorities’ from Philippians 2:1-11.

Rob Godard on 4 Essentials for Growing Healthy Christians (Surrey)

In a 4 week series, Pastor Rob looks at 4 essentials that are needed for growing healthy Christians:

Jesus gave the church two ordinances to follow, Baptism and Communion and both are essential and need to be celebrated with reverence and joy if we are going to be healthy as a church! Also essential is to be involved in the lives of other believers and the best way to do so is through a Growth Group.  This is not optional for the Christian! We need each other! That is how God has structured it and every Christian in a local church is essential to the health of that local church. If we are to be healthy every person has to be engaged using their gifts within the Life and Body of the church.

All 4 messages in this series can be found here.  CBC also live streams all services from 10:30am PST on CBC LIVE.

Steve Kim on “Mercy’s Hand Saves the Drowning Soul” from Psalm 130 (Toronto)

When you’re drowning under the waves of your own sin, there are two things you can do: 1) You can accept this is your lot and quietly drown or 2) you can cry out for help! In Psalm 130, we find the Psalmist in a similar situation. His soul is drowning because of his iniquity, but instead of suffering quietly, he cries and pleads for God to show him Mercy but he’s confident that with the Lord, there is forgiveness. You may feel like you’re already 50 feet deep in the depths of sin. You may feel like you’re at a place where no one can reach you. If that’s you, know this. There is hope because there is a strong hand of Mercy that can save your drowning soul.

Here is the sermon.

Robbie Symons on “Opportunity..don’t waste it!” from Matthew 25:14-30 (Oakville)

Today we continue our study of Matthew 25. As an authentic Christ-follower, each of us has been entrusted with specific gifts and talents. Our responsibility as good stewards is to use them with both wisdom and obedience for the glory of God and for His kingdom. We are all accountable for the blessings He has given to us. Don’t waste the opportunity!
