Every week we want to bring to your attention expository, Gospel-centred sermons from pastors across Canada. We hope that you become familiar with some of the faithful ministers of the word in our nation. We also hope that you will be edified on your daily commute or whenever you listen to these messages. We lastly hope that you learn about the churches where these pastors minister, so that you can easily find Gospel-centered, expository churches in your region.

François Turcotte on Psalm 90 (Montreal)

Counting our Days Right – Living in Light of our Mortal State: Death is a taboo in our society, but we will not escape it. In order to count our days right and live in light of our mortal state, we must remember our own weakness, mortality and rebellion. We must also make God our refuge, contemplate his work and be active.

Rob Godard on “The Great I am” from John 10:1-10 (Surrey)

When Jesus said, I Am the door, notice it is exclusive, and offers hope, freedom and forgiveness to all who would enter in. He is the only way to salvation, and He is the one we can trust to protect us from any and all who would threaten to steal our abundant life in Him…..

Paul Martin on “It Is Better to Obey” from 1 Samuel 15 (Toronto)

Satan is deceptive. So is your heart. That seems to be why we can think crazy things like, “It is better to sin than it is to obey hypocritically!” To obey is always better. Obviously, to obey with a pure heart is best, but using 1 Samuel 15 and other Scriptures, we can see the value God places on simply doing what we are told. In fact, it is often the doing of the right thing that helps to re-orient the heart in the right direction.

Paul Carter on 1 Peter 4:1-19 “Prepare To Suffer” (Orillia)

Peter wrote to prepare his people for suffering and persecution. He wrote 1 Peter around AD 60 and the persecution arrived in AD 112. There is often a long delay between social marginalization and formal persecution and Peter was eager to preserve this season of fruitful ministry. To listen to Pastor Paul Carter read and explore this counsel see here.

George Sinclair on John 12:20-30 (Ottawa)

Death. For many Canadians, it is a topic that is never polite to raise. We can ask about death, and people will give a flippant or dismissive answer. However if we press the issue about what death means, we will be told that we are morbid or depressing or messed up. But why is this? On the face of it, death is completely natural. But why is it that life feels natural but death does not? How can life have meaning if our life ends in death? Only the Bible gives a wise account of these and related questions. Let’s look together at what Jesus says in John 12.
