Every week we want to bring to your attention expository, Gospel-centred sermons from pastors across Canada. We hope that you become familiar with some of the faithful ministers of the word in our nation. We also hope that you will be edified on your daily commute or whenever you listen to these messages. We lastly hope that you learn about the churches where these pastors minister, so that you can easily find Gospel-centered, expository churches in your region.

Rob Godard on “The Great I am”: Part 1 / Sermon 7: No Reserve, No Retreats, No Regrets from Matthew 25:14-30 (Surrey)

How we view God and life shapes how we live our lives.  We are His servants, we are bought with a price and all that we are and all that we have is His. He is a gracious Master. However, if we do not see Him as He is in this, we will see ourselves as givers of what is ours, rather than stewards of what is His!

The main points are: Master-servant relationship, God is the owner, and God cares how we invest what He has given us.

May God help us to understand how important it is to see life correctly and invest wisely.

All the messages in this series can be found here.  CBC also live streams all services from 10:30am PST on CBC LIVE.

Clint Humfrey on “I Lay Down My Life For The Sheep”: The Doctrine of Limited Atonement from John 10 (Calgary)

  1. The Shepherd’s Intention John 10.14-18
  2. “You Do Not Believe Because You are Not Of My Sheep” (v.26)
  3. What Did the Cross Achieve?

The most controversial doctrine of the so-called five points of Calvinism is the doctrine of limited atonement, or particular redemption. If you’ve ever had questions about what the cross of Christ has achieved, you’ll want to hear from God’s word along with God’s people on this Lord’s Day.

Here is the message.

Jeff Eastwood on Ephesians 1:3-6 (Charlottetown)

Examination should lead to further appreciation, yet motivation plays a huge role in determining if that becomes the case. The desire to find fault, be right at all costs, and personally exult in the perception of winning a debate, can all lead to a diminishing of the appreciation of the thing examined. Nowhere perhaps is this more true than an examination of the sovereignty of God, especially in salvation. Follow along this week as Pastor Jeff presents the blessing and beauty of God choosing to redeem some of fallen humanity and bring them into community with Himself and others.

George Sinclair on John 14 (Ottawa)

The idea that Jesus is THE Way and THE Truth and THE Life – and that no one comes to the Father except through Him, is deeply offensive to most Canadians. It is so offensive that it can easily slip into the hearts of Christians and we lose a full-hearted belief and love for what Jesus has said. Mindful of what the world says, let’s ponder John 14:6 so we can be gripped by the beauty and power of the Gospel.

Clint Humfrey on ‘The Golden Chain’, or What is the Doctrine of Irresistible Grace? from Romans 8:28-30 (Calgary)

Is the salvation of the elect left up to chance? Or does God have the loving ability to compel his sheep to believe and effectively save them? That’s what we’ll explore as we consider the glorious doctrine of irresistible grace.

  1. The Golden Chain
  2. “Lazarus Come Out!”
  3. Compelling Grace

Brad Morrice on Acts 20:17-38 (Montreal)

Courage and Passion : The Courage of Ann Judson: Through the life of Ann Judson, one of the first female missionaries, we will study what happens to us when Jesus becomes our goal: the new boldness that we feel, the new vulnerability we experience through compassion, and the new priorities of our lives.

Here is the message.

Quentin Bernard on Augustine (Montreal)

Courage and Passion: Augustine, a Total Commitment with Truth – As we study the life of Augustine, one of the great Church Fathers and author of many books, we will see that it takes courage to seek the truth and, more especially, to live according to the truth.

Here is the message.
