Every week we want to bring to your attention expository, Gospel-centred sermons from pastors across Canada. We hope that you become familiar with some of the faithful ministers of the word in our nation. We also hope that you will be edified on your daily commute or whenever you listen to these messages. We lastly hope that you learn about the churches where these pastors minister, so that you can easily find Gospel-centered, expository churches in your region.

Clint Humfrey on Philippians 1:21-26 To Live Is Christ Part 2 (Calgary)

In Philippians 1: 21-26 we are reminded that the great joy of the Christian is to honour God, by serving those whom God loves. Are you living for the “progress and joy in the faith” of others?

Here are the sermon’s main points:

1. The Good Conflict

2. Fearless and Fruitful Labour

3. For Your Joy

Paul Martin on Exodus 18:1-12 (Toronto)

There are many stories in the Bible of people moving from unbelief in God, to belief. Some are quite shocking. The story of Jethro, the Midian priest and father-in-law to Moses, is one of those shocking accounts. It is also a great lesson in how a Christian might speak the truth of the Gospel to someone who is not yet trusting in Christ. Moses is a great example of patience, love, truthfulness and hope and should inspire us all to believe ever more strongly that God will save even the most unlikely among us. Paul Martin preached from Exodus 18:1-12.

Here is the sermon.

Rob Godard on Colossians 2:4-6 (Surrey)

Apart from Him we can do nothing. That is easy to say, and yet hard sometimes to truly believe and experience. As we bring this series to a close, the key to having a Christ-Honouring Culture that reaches out with His Gospel is to be actively filled with prayer. This passage shows us Paul’s desire to be prayed for, and the content and context of the prayer are very helpful for those who know they are dependent to reach up, as they long to reach out. Our goal as we work through this passage is to not only to be those who are aware of our dependence, but also those who are prayerful.

Jeff Eastwood on 1 Samuel 18-19 (Charlottetown)

Is there anything about your life that you would like to change, or are you completely satisfied with how everything is? It is a rare individual indeed who is not at least struggling with dissatisfaction in even a minor way. Our hearts are easily dissatisfied and distracted, especially as we compare ourselves with those around us who we consider equals or lesser than us and find them succeeding in ways we are not. Envy, jealousy, fear—these are not the ways of God, yet they are often our ways. Watch this week as we look at 1 Samuel 18 & 19 and discover the only cure for dissatisfaction—finding full satisfaction in Jesus Christ the Righteous.

George Sinclair on John 4:31-45 (Ottawa)

It is hard to find meaning in your work or meaning in your life in the midst of decline. From a sociological and statistical perspective, Christianity is in serious decline in Canada. So, how shall we then live as Christians in Canada in the face of statistical decline? We will look at what Jesus says about worship and work and meaning in John 4:30–45.

Here’s the link to George’s sermon.

Josh Tong on Luke 12:35-48 “Battling Unfaithfulness” (King City)
